Dealing with Holiday Temptations

All that food looks so delicious! And everyone else is enjoying themselves. What do you do? It is the holiday season after all and there will be lots of choices - admittedly some better than others. But if Grandma's secret pie is only made once a year and it's your favourite, can you eat some and still be true to your health goals? The answer is, it depends. If you're building up to a bikini or muscle competition, then probably not. But if you're looking to improve your overall lifestyle, then quite possibly yes. Here's how. Eat slowly

Whatever you choose to eat over the holidays, make sure you truly enjoy it. Take the time to savour each bite and remember why this food is so special to you. You might even find that some dishes you no longer enjoy when you're taking your time. And others will leave you with that heavenly sense of satisfaction for far longer.
Put the fork down Part of what makes the holidays so special is the people around us. Take time during a meal to converse and really listen to those around you. Besides actually learning something from your family and loved ones, this might have the added benefit of not having to refuse seconds (or thirds) since your plate will look fuller longer. Bring your own holiday treat to share Since it's the holidays, we thought we'd help you get in the sprit and share some of our baking recipes. Included are two recipes for each item - one 'traditional' for those who enjoy premium ingredients, and one 'alternative' for those who'd prefer to substitute for whole, less processed foods.
